Reborn of sunsetter?

Hi guys,
I personally prefer crazyhouse than chess and I know almost no programming at all. I find it sad that the best engines (sunsetter and tjchess, maybe even "imortal", a new one) can lose to almost anyone. For example the tjchess engine I run on FICS lost to some people rated 1400 while the engine is rated well over 2500 but it wins many games on time with a lost position, hence such a high rating.
Anyway, recently I've noticed that sunsetter's code is open source. So I downloaded it and as a linux user I must compile it. However the compile doesn't work. So I've asked in FICS if some people could check the code and 1 person basically studied the code, made modifications in 7 files and apparently compiles on a 32 bits system. This person said that the code is very archaic and needs many modifications, etc. He also said that he isn't even sure the source code would compile on nowaday windows operating system. So he will modify it again and eventually send the whole code to me.
Since it's an open source engine I want to make the fixed code available to all, as soon as I get it.
Eventually, I really wish some programmers would create a stronger engine and keep it open source (just like what's happening with stockfish).
So I have a question: Once I get the working code, where can I post it on the web? I mean what website would be the most appropriate?
Lastly, is anyone interested in improving sunsetter?
