Is this game notation correct?

Postby Volker Pittlik » 14 Apr 2008, 13:47

While trying to find incorrect moves I found this game. I think the result is incorrect:

Code: Select all

[Annotator "Scorpio"]

When Scorpio found the dubious move white has clear advantage. Some moves later the programs display a mate sore:

[diag]8/1p5r/pR5P/P1k2p2/3p3R/1P2K1n1/2P5/8 w - - 0 54[/diag]

8/1p5r/pR5P/P1k2p2/3p3R/1P2K1n1/2P5/8 w - - 0 54

I didn't see it but the programs agree ( { 100:+327.00} 54.Rxd4 Re7+ 55.Kd3 Re3+ 56.Kxe3 Nf1+ 57.Kd3 Nd2 58. b4# ).

One move later black wins. Does someone know something about this game? Is the pgn correct? Maybe white lost for other reasons?

Hi Volker
I have found the game you posted at
http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1004420
but it's the same (perhaps wrong) notation.

Thanks. I guess we have simply to accept that PGN is really often wrong.
