Hello,
a lot of new version !
Please note:
A new configuration file for ColChess !!!
All information in my News Ticker !
Regards
Frank
I can't remeber if it's mentioned in the readme file of ColChess, but the program searches for the colchess.ini file in the c:\Windows directory (try doubleclicking on the executable). So if the book isn't loaded you know why. If it's mentioned in the readme-file, ignore this message.Hello,

That's correct, and I believe that it is in the README file.I can't remeber if it's mentioned in the readme file of ColChess, but the program searches for the colchess.ini file in the c:\Windows directory (try doubleclicking on the executable). Hi, Colin,I have added a windows colchess.ini file, which you simply copy to the windows directory after altering the line in it which says where ColChess is installed. No reboot necessary.
For those of you who have set up the COLCEHSS_PATH variable in autoexec.bat then this still works. It searches for the .ini first, then the path, and then it just defaults to the current directory.
Let me know if it works any easier for any of you. I'll keep trying to resolve the few problems that are left.
Cheers,
Colin
Well, I did suspect that it was mentioned in the readme file, but I couldn't check since I had deleted it. Hopefully, it will prevent questions from people (like myself) that aren't to fond of reading documentation. That's correct, and I believe that it is in the README file.
I have had a go at trying to solve the problems that people have installing and running ColChess.
Dann Corbit seems to think that there are still some problems and it still doesn't work in some situations, but at least I think it will be easier to set up now. As it has always worked for me then I can't really test it myself I'm afraid.

It works all right by me. Only I'm afraid that whenever I will want to make a change in colchess.ini, I'll forget to copy it again to the Windows directory, which will shorten my life. This will not happen if Colchess_path is set in autoexec.bat.
And a question: Which one has priority when I set the hash size by both colchess.ini and Winboard command line?
