winboard,crafty,rc files,books,random commands

i use crafty with winboard,using winboard dialoge box.eg;
c:/wcrafty/wcraft~1.exe
my rc file contains the commands random 1 and random width 2
when running two craftys against each other with winboard they always
start e4-d4(center counter)
in text mode every thing seems ok.
this has me stumped

They are using the anti-computer book in Winboard. Winboard 4.0.7 executes the command "computer" for both engines.
