Raffaela oddities

I ran a bunch of Raffaela games last night and noticed several strange effects.
1. Raffaela always moves quickly on long time control games.
2. Raffaela does something strange with the white games -- only playing as black
3. One or both programs (Raffaela/Storm) is not reporting to Winboard correctly, because even though there is a checkmate, the opponent loses on time!
Do others see these same effects? Is there a cure?

1.There are some engines which badly play under longer time controls(not only Raffaela).Examples: TSCP (even compiled by you), Mfchess, etc.
With Raffaela it is easy to understand: it plays fixed depth (by default 6, I think). With TSCP there is a bug in a source code: when Winboard sends "post" command, TSCP interprete it like "st 0", and always plays 1 sec per move...
2.After reinstalling Windows'98 I got the same problem: Raffaela couldn't play with white, so all games by Raffaela in the last 3 or 4 rounds of my blitz tournament are with black...
3.Look at the winboard.debug, after got mated, Storm sends something like this
1082140

yes as saib by george raffaella as a fix depth
the default is 6 , you can change it , if you want with the slider under the title bar (the one with the label "livello")
Stefano Gemma (the author) promised that he will manage the "winboard time"
as soon as possible ... I'm waiting this too to introduce the program
on the italian winboard elo (the "Gelo").
I will say about this to stefano on the italian g6 forum so I hope He will clarify these point here.
ciao

There is no promotion problems under Winboard. Problems are when you play against Raffaela with its own interface and try to move your piece to 8th rank (Raffaela leave it as pawn!)

Hi, i'm the programmer of Raffaela.
I ran a bunch of Raffaela games last night and noticed several strange effects.

2. Raffaela does something strange with the white games -- only playing as black
3. One or both programs (Raffaela/Storm) is not reporting to Winboard correctly, because even though there is a checkmate, the opponent loses on time!

Raffaela doesnt have a time control. Winboard send the time control command to Raffaela but it will be ignored. For now, you can only set the ply level of depth. If you want N seconds per move, just try several level and choose the one that, from the starting position, will take about the time you need (or a little less).
This is a bug, i will correct as soon as possible.
Maybe is another Raffaela bug ;-(
The only cure is to give me a little time to work on my program, because i am very busy at this moment :-(((((
Ciao!!!

Because Raffaela is just like Peter Pan... she won't grow :-))))
This is not a bug, but just a thing that i have not implemented yet. It is reported on my web site (www.linformatica.com). I'm in zeitnot :-) with my work, so i have paused the development of Raffaela. To avoid this problem, you can do one of the following thing:
a) when you have to promote, tell Raffaela to move, by pressing the button with the right arrow: Raffaela will promote for you... then press the button again and she will move;
b)open the tab "Server DDE" and write the move near the button "Mossa" (d7d8Q) and then press that button
Ciao!!!

I WANT it in this year ;-)
the proposed date is the first week end of august
The main problem is this:
most of italian programmer want a "uniform platform" event
and is not so easy to arrange it.
We need a place with at least 3 uniform pc, and i cant find any.
I hope that if we understand that this "uniform" event is not possible
the g6 (the italian programmer group) will decide to do everybody with his PC.
ciao
