To Leo on WBEC Scheduling

When the previous 1st division tournament finished, all those that promoted to the premier division did not play when the premier division started.
But when the 2nd div finished, all those that promoted are now playing in the 1st div.
You see, those that promoted from the last 1st div have now been 'idle' for 2 tournaments. They did not play when the premier div started, and of course they are not playing in the 1st div now.
Interestingly, those that were demoted from the last premier div are now playing in the current 1st div.
So, when the current 1st div finishes, what will happen to those that are supposed to promote? Wait for another 2 tournaments to pass by? or join those that promoted last year?
I just find the scheduling strange.
Great tournaments, by the way.

I don't understand what you're saying. The premier division hasn't started. When it does Pharon (who promoted from 1st division) and Yace and GreenLightChess (who held their places in premier) will play.

Premier div has finished. But before it did, 1st div finished first. However, Ktulu and Thinker (both from the 1st div) did not play in the premier div.

You don't get to play in two divisions in the same edition. They played in 1st div in edition 7 and will play in premier in edition 8.

OK then. I wasn't considering the "edition". I just was looking at the sequence of division tournaments. I guess it is right to say then that the winner of the current 1st div will not play in the premiere div that just follows, but will instead play in the 9th edition premier div.

Hi Paul,

I think you misunderstood some details. Although I'm quite new in this forum,
I'd like to explain (perhaps someone else shoots me down if I'm completely
wrong).
Each "edition" consists of several tournaments which are running in parallel
on a "logical" level although they can't run "physically" at the same time for
some organizational reasons (which are unknown for me but I don't care).
So edition 7 started in February 2004 with divisions 1, 3, 5 and 6, while
premier, 2nd and 4th div followed immediately after the others were done.
Thinker and Ktulu promoted from 1st div of edition 7 to premier div of
edition 8, not of edition 7.

Sven

Hi Paul,
The answer from Dan is correct, each engine plays only at one division at one edition, to see promoted engines play emmidiate at the higher division is only possible when WBEC runs at 7 duals and all divisions plays at the same time!
Best wishes,
Leo.
