Gunther, I believe the version of Zappa you have has a config file and support for avoidlines. I would really appreciate it if you would turn off the Marshall Gambit. So far, Zappa has gotten 2 of its losses and now one of its draws due to its complete lack of kingsafety knowledge in this opening.

Hi Anthony,
I will follow your advice, though I think the main problem is
13...Re8?!, which Zappa always prefers in the Marshall line.
BTW how do I write '0-0' in the avoid line for Zappa?
(is it just 0-0 or Kg8/Kg1 or sth else?)
Best regards,
Günther
P.S. I am already curious how Zappa will do soon in Class B :)
I believe this is the line to add to the zappa.ini file (avoid d5). It should accept 0-0, O-O, or o-o. And it should tell you in the log file if there is a parsing error.
avoidline e4 e5 Nf3 Nc6 Bb5 a6 Ba4 Nf6 O-O Be7 Re1 b5 Bb3 O-O c3 d5
It is not that the Marshall Gambit is bad, it is that Zappa's eval (especially kingsafety) is very bad. It relies on outsearching its opponents to win.

I believe Zappa has only about a 25% chance to promote out of Class B. Zappa prefers to have a hardware advantage, especially now that I am multiproc ;)
