My congrats to all promoted ones and good luck for the
ones who have to leave.
I know that especially the ones at place 6-10 with some
luck could have promoted too - may be next time then.

Hi Günther,
Many thanks for your well run tournament - and for including TRACE. I think she has improved, but alas, not nearly enough. Congrats to Fabien and the promotees. Good job!
I feel sorry for Matt being so so close. Better luck next time.
TRACE 1.30 is in the works... she has just learned to generate checks in the quiescence search and this has given her better tactical vision. She gets 298/300 in WACNEW on a PIII-450 with 25 seconds... not too bad.
There are still some glaring positional/evaluation problems which cause her to do stupid things - way too often.
BTW, on the actual DAY of the Oz CC Champs, in an insane fit of desperation, I had a crack at putting in those quiescence checks (Joel Veness/Bodo suggested it). It took 7 gruelling hours to write the ~950 lines of code (due to unrolled loops etc) - but with only half an hour before the start it was too late to iron out the inevitable bugs so I didn't use it. Yesterday, it was debugged after adding just 2 lines of code... mama mia.
Oh well, at least its in there now.... and it works.
I look forward to your next RWBC Div C and (hopefully) promotion to Div B. If only everyone would stop improving....
Best regards,
Ross

It is really amazing to me how close Fruit and Zappa are:
Open class: tied with 19 points, Zappa wins by 1.5 Bucholz points.
Class D: Zappa ahead by 0.5 points
Class C: Tied with 17.5 points, Fruit wins by 2.5 Bucholz points.
After 63 games their total scores differ by only half a point!

I think there were three different versions of Fruit. Which makes me think Fruit 1.0 must have been really lucky in the Open Class.
No, tied first place is first place. There are two winners!
Maybe they are similar in some way, you said evaluation was not the strong point of Zappa?!
Of course on 64-bit and/or SMP hardward, this would be a different story.
Fabien.
