I've compiled an executable version of Tomasz Michniewski's java engine 'Jchess'
from the source code available on his website :

Although quite old now, this is probably the strongest java-based engine available -
It took fifth place in the 1st Polish Chess Programs Championship.

The opening book 'JChessBook.txt' is located with the source code in the zip file. Just copy it into Jchess's folder once you've installed it.
