Oh, I have the feeling that what you call delay is what I call increment. In that case there is no solution.

That would be pretty dumb of me, wouldn't it ?
I was referring to the "Operator time (sec.)" parameter. Setting it to 2 secs should solve most potential problems with losses on time IMHO, taking into account the scenario you described. I take it you already disabled the obvious, especially stuff like "Sliding pieces" (and equivalent time-wasting options in WinBoard).
In a few thousands of games, Bringer never lost a single game on time on my computer(s) other than in 1 0 or 1 1 games - I'd really like to understand what I do differently than others.
