Hi Johan,
thanks for running this tournament.
This is a very odd result for Aristarch 4.50 which is probably the strongest program in the field. Could just be a rogue series of results, but I'll be watching its progress with interest.
This new Anmon seems to have made a good gain in strength. Is this the impression that others get also?
Regards, Graham.

This is computer-chess. I could replay the tournament with one or two other programs and the result would be just the opposite, Anmon last and Aristarch in front. After 15 years of computer chess, i have learned to relativate such results.
The AEGT is so intresting, just because there are more people that playing
matches with the same opponents.

Hello Johan ,
yes, exactly this happens. 22 games for each engine in tournaments with opponents fairly close and you will get all kind of results. But combining 100, 200 or more games the whole thing will be more meaningful and the best will finally show up. There is a theory that maybe less games with long timecontrols than for Blitz are needed to have more or less exact ratings.
(For Blitz you need 1000 games with each engine to tell something with an accuracy of +- 20 ELO.)
Look at Olivier´s tournament for example and you see Aristarch in front with a huge margin and this one is really a monster with more time, although in one or two single tournaments it can anyway finish at the bottom.
This morning we got the final result from Pedro, but I still do not have the games to combine them to the overall crosstable. And guess what? AnMon last in Pedro´s tournament with only 5.5 points out of 22 games. I hope he will soon post the results and send me the games. For Igor we will have to wait two weeks more.
Note to Graham: As you probably noticed AnMon is already out with a newer version and first results are promising.
Best Regards
Heinz
