startup failure: permission denied when starting winboard

I get "startup failure: permission denied" when starting winboard with a chess engine. This happens in my.. ehem.. nice notebook, I never had that problem in other pcs.
Using winboard 4.2.6 under winXP.
Someone know what is my problem? (in this precise thing I just mentioned only)
Thanks.

Such a problem I have encountered when building engines with DJGPP, and
(I think) it is caused by the fact that the engine is not Win32 compatible.
If you read Timm Mann's engine-intf.html file (that comes packed with Winboard),
you'll find that Winboard requests that engines be Win32 compatible.
Hope this will answer your question...

Hi, thanks for your answer, but I know the executable used is not the problem here. Also I try any directory and it says startup failure on 'directory': access denied. I removed the old winboard.ini and installed winboard 4.2.7 and i get the same result. Strange..

OK, try to be nice and state the obvious which will get an outraged answer ..
Is the message real maybe? Do you have the rights to startup whatever engine you want to run with the user you use to logon on your notebook?
Does your current user have admin rights? Does your WinBoard installation have?

hi...
what do you mean...
It's an admin account.
mmm... I guess it does.. how I see that?, how could it not have, if I always use the same admin account?
btw I use windows xp home, in the case that makes a difference.....
is my windows broken, or my ignorance and stupidity is affecting me here?
anyway, my problem is not urgent.
Peter... by the way, not a bad english name, somehow like Dimitri in russian, making an analogy... somehow.. by the way again, my brother got married with a woman from Ukraine, when she speaks in her language it sounds so strange, a sonorous mess.
