polyglot + shredder + winboard = one game only bug?

Hey i have been having problems tring to get polyglot to work properly. I can play one game using winboard 4.2.7 but after a start another game i get illegal move. The engine i am using is Shredder 8.
I wanted to go back and use polyglot again because i ran into a timing problems with ucitowb ver 2.0. i found that shredder would sometimes play to slow and run into time trouble. I heard this is not a problem with polyglot. But unfortunately i cant play more than one game with out getting that illegal move error. Then i have to close winboard and rerun it and log back in. Has anyone else had this problem?

I also forgot to mention that i am using bookthinker also along with polyglot.
herer is my commandline on my desktop short cut icon to Winboard.
"C:\Program Files\WinBoard\winboard.exe" -zp -ics -icshost chessclub.com -fcp '"c:\program files\winboard\shredder8\bookthinker.exe" polyglot' -scp 'c:\program files\winboard\shredder8\thinker.exe' -icshelper timestamp
The only way i am able to run polyglot is with the ini and exe file in the winboard directory rather than a separate directory. I havent been able to do it any other way. That command line does not see polyglot in the shredder8 folder but it sees it in the winboard folder.

Good thing you thought about it afterwards, as there are many problems with BookThinker. One of them is that it does not support version 2 of the xboard protocol. You must force version 1 using WinBoard arguments.
I think I mentionned this and other known problems in the documentation. Please make sure you read everything.

Well i looked threw the info . I'm at a loss as to what do. I already had that uci version set to 1. and still does the same thing. I guess somehow bookthinker is just not compatible with polyglot. I get it to work no problems using ucitowb 2.0 but it has timing problems and has lost on time. So for now i have to use polyglot and i have to log out and log back in to play another game or i get the illegal move error or it doesnt move at all if my computer is white. I wish somehow shredder was written for winboard so it wouldn't need an adapter and woudln't need a book engine.

ahh i finally solved my problem. since i am using the commandline instead of the ini file. you have to place -firstProtocolVersion=1 or /firstProtocolVersion=1 before you add the -fcp and path of the engineor engines.
herer is my working line and my problems are all clear now. thanks for you help!

Forgot to mention this.
Also the reason i was having problems also was i was placing that line /firstProtocolVersion=1 after the -fcp and it was not working. so syntac and order are important as a side note. thanks again

and all is well.

Is that also the case if you label the arguments consistently? I.e. use '/' (Windows convention) or '-' (Unix convention) for all options, but mixing them seems asking for trouble IMO alghough it should not matter in practice.
Also beware of the first/second "trick". You have to set the correct one to version 1 (possibly both).
OK, but I'm still surprised about the option order. I don't have a computer to check though ...
