The Crazy Bishop is through.

The crazy bishop only needed two games to go through against Little Goliath1.41a even though the last game seems a little strange.

LGoliath2.05-Bringer1.5:1½-½.

Postby Mogens Larsen » 25 Aug 1999, 13:00

Goliath qualified for a quarterfinal against LambChop after defeating Bringer1.5. The first game was won by Goliath in a Richter-Rauzer sicilian. The variation is favorable to white, which Goliath demonstrated. Bringer tried a closed sicilian with white, but didn't get any advantage and settled for draw by repetition.
Have anyone tried the new Crafty16.16? Does it correct some bugs or? The reason I ask is, that it's not to late to enter a new Craftyengine into the KO-tournament.
Best wishes...

I tried it breifly, Bob had said that the primary reason for this latest version was to correct bugs. I didn't try it in any engine vs. engine games though and that's mostly where you'd find bugs with the last version I think.
It seems to be working ok, you might want to take time to test it's eng vs eng ability first before entering it in your tournament. The new version shouldn't be any stronger from what I hear. I'm probably going to toss out the last version only because I can't keep accumulating more and more Craftys all the time.

That's my worry as well.
Thanks for the info. I'll try it before the next tournament, but then 16.17 might be available.

A considerable correction. Bringer didn't play a closed sicilian, but a reverse sicilian. Goliath responded with the Kramnik-Shirov attack (1.c4,e5 2.Nc3,Bb4) and clinched a draw. Sorry.
Best wishes...
