Me VS Pierre 1.7

Postby Nicolás Carrasco » 04 Oct 1999, 23:37

Today I played this game VS Pierre 1.7 . I am happy because it is the first
sacrifise I have done
correctly on my life (15 years old). I would be pleased to know if my knight
sacrifice was correct.
I was playing with a 5 minute clock and I finished the game with only 4 seconds
left.
Thanks :)
COMMENTS are welcome from anyone!
PS: In my opinion Pierre is the most funny chess engine! (not the worst)

Nicolás,
This is your game annotated by Crafty compiled & running back in Dos. I like Pierre, sometimes I win, but often I loose. I see that Crafty annotates more of Pierre's moves than your moves, so consider moving to a stronger program soon. Skatki is stronger & I think Faile is stronger than Skatki. But it's good for the ego to win games against Pierre.

I don't think I could really describe it step for step because it's something that I just more or less do without thinking much.
You should really make sure that you download the crafty.doc file and read about it. This isn't done IN Winboard, it's something that you do in Crafty itself in console mode. First thing that I usually do is enter in the command Annotate, and crafty will remind me of what I should have typed in:
usage: annotate (and something I never bothered figuring out)
So if you wanted to annotate both sides:
annotate nico.pgn wb 8 .75 60"
would annotate the file nico.pgn, wb is both sides, 8 means that you want the annotations to start at move 8, .75 means that you want the game annotated any place where there was a 3/4 pawn difference between Crafty's best move and the move that you made, and 60" means that you want it to search for 60 seconds.
And it'll leave the annotations in a .can file
Hope that helps
Pete

Yes. I don't allways think when I type, and I don't spell very well (and I almost never eat too much fruit)

Pete
Thank you Pete for these good informations!
