look to the page of Gambit-Soft. There you could find informations about auto232 and chess232. You also can buy the auto232-software or the chess232-board there.

Auto323 is to play Chess between 2 different programs on 2 different computers, I think they need to be linked through the serial port but don't try to do that unless you know for sure, I've never done the required reading to know how to do it.
I don't know what chess232 is, probably the same type of thing. Rémi Coulom who programed The Crazy Bishop (very good program) also has a program to allow Winboard engines to play against eachother with auto232, see his web page.
