GNU chess 5 start up problems

hi everyone
when i try use GNU 5.0 (both with winboard and without)the start
up is slow and Hard disk goes into overdrive,and computer goes all slow

so whats up???

Same thing as with SOS only worse, Dan compiled the most recent version with 32mb hashtable, as with SOS this is far too much for my computer. If you'd like I still have the original version that Dann had made with only 4 mb of hashtable and I could email you a copy, it's a good program.

Same thing as with SOS only worse, Dan compiled the most recent version with 32mb hashtable, as with SOS this is far too much for my computer. If you'd like I still have the original version that Dann had made with only 4 mb of hashtable and I could email you a copy, it's a good program.

That's a completly different different program, they share nothing between the new GNU v 5.0 and the old GNU that came with Winboard. With allot of luck though Tim might do some work on 5.0 and release it with the next version of Winboard, that might not happen though.
