He posted the same nonsens some weeks ago in another forum too, I don't remember which one. Nobody agreed with him. IMHO it's not worth to translate it. He is talking about his *feelings*.

Err...
It's not very nice. Any translator machine will give you the rough idea.

"Dear Friends,
I would like to give a warning to all friends of chess programming. If possible, you should avoid making your own program be able to run under Winboard.
It is unimportant.
Winboard is a TRAP for chess programmers.
This is my feeling.
Moreover, it is nicer and more creative to create your own colour graphics with chess pieces.
HANDS OFF FROM WINBOARD!"

Note: I completely disagree with the contents of this letter.

Note: I completely disagree with the contents of this letter.

Actually, that's quite a relief. I took the expression "HANDS OFF FROM WINBOARD" to mean something filthy from an English idiom with similar word structure.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. IMO, Winboard is the neatest thing since sliced bread.
However, I also have another opinion (partially in support!). I would like to see a formal BNF grammer for Winboard specified so that it would be trivial to write parsers.

I think, this is complete nonsence...
It sounds like:
Any compiler is a trap for programmers. Write your own compiler for all programming languages you use.
Winboard is an excellent program to determine chess engine strength. All you need is to implement Winboard input and output commands (and you have nearly 50 free(!!!) engines to test it with...)
