Merlin alway opening with the same move

Hi,
This is an answer to Norm Pollock.
I asked Merlin's author why the program always opens with the same move. He said that it is probably because that move led to victory and Merlin won't change it until results get worse. Currently there is no randomization in choosing the opening move. In the upcoming non-beta version this will be corrected.

Merlin's pet opening moves are 1.e4 and 2.Be2. But I also observe that Merlin thinks over its first move. So it seems it doesn't recognize the opening book. Maybe one has to add some line in the configuration file.

No, apparently one has to remove a # sign in the file autoexec.cfg, so the beautiful line
book opening.dat
now lies there. I assume this is the solution, as now Merlin instantaneously plays 1.d3
(I liked the Tartakowerian 1.e4 & 2.Be2 more)
