Athlon vs. PIV

Aristarch and Tao seem to perform much better on my PIV than on my Athlon64 : please have a look at AEGT standings
http://loirechecs.chez.tiscali.fr/chess ... T/AEGT.htm
and then compare with the current ChessWar class B :
http://loirechecs.chez.tiscali.fr/chess ... 005BSt.htm
AEGT is run on a PIV 3Ghz 512mb and ChessWar on an Athlon64 3000+ 512mb. Same OS, same GUI, same settings for both tournaments. The only difference is the time control (40/30 for AEGT and 40/40 for ChessWar).
Of course there are not enough games to be sure...
Any comments ?

This is the point: much too less games played to
conclude something.

Note that I did not test Atistarch and Tao on PIV and Athlon64 to compare but I think that the first comparison should be not in games but in nodes per seconds.
If Aristarch gets 1000 Knodes per second on Athlon64 3000+ and 500 Knodes per second on PIV 3 ghz when most other programs are only 1.5 times faster on Athlon64 3000 ghz+ then it seems clear that Aristarch prefers the athlon without a single game.
I wonder why people look at results of games to get conclusions when the most simple test is simply to compare speed without games.

Good advice, Uri ! I'll do this test as soon as the machines are not busy.
