1. d4 d5 2. c4 c6 3. Nc3 Nf6 4. e3 e6
{
The first move out off book for asterisk
}
5. Nf3 Nbd7 6. Bd3 Be7 7. O-O O-O 8. e4 dxe4 9. Nxe4 Nxe4 10. Bxe4
{
Only now Butcher is out of book. he gets a better controlover the center and more space.
but the blackposition has no weackness
}
10... Nf6 11. Bc2 b5?!
{
astersik try to attack the center and perhaps to developp his bishop in b7 .But c6 can remain a weackness!
}
12. c5
{
better than 12.cxb5 and d4 remain isolated. Now Butcher can press on c6 with Ne5 or Bf4. After this answer ,we understand why the previous black move was weack!
}
12... a5
{
control b4
}
13. Ne5 Bb7
{
the bishop have to protect the pawn ..now we can see the real disavantage of the black posiiton. Black have no space to operate, and they cannot chase away the Knigth without weackening their pawn structure!
now if 14.... Nd7 15.Bf4
}
14. Qd3
{
this threat on the castle avoid 14....Nd7 else 15.Qxh7#.
We can see in this game , that butcher take advantage of one weackness ,and increase his advantage.
}
14... b4 15. Bg5
{
with a really strong space and mobility advantage ,Butcher have no difficulty to find the best move.
This one create the following threat Bxf6 followed by Qxh7
}
15... g6
{
And asterisk have to weacken his pawn structure once again!
}
16. a3 Ba6 17. Qf3
{
the queen remain active . She threats Qxc6 and support the attack against the Knigth in f6 .
Now if 18.Nxc6 the fork between the Bishop or the queen will destroy a defender of f6
}
17... Bb5
{
if 17.... Bxf1?! 18.Nxc6 Qd7 19.Nxe7+ Qxe7 20.Bxf6 Qe8 etc...
}
18. Rfd1 bxa3 19. Rxa3
{
19.bXa3 to threat a4 is not working because of 19.a4
}
19... Ra6 20. Bd3 Kg7 21. Bxb5
{
butcher will convert his space advantage in a positional one.
}
21... cxb5 22. Nc6 Qc7 23. Nxe7 Qxe7 24. Qh3 h5 25. Rf3 e5 26. Bxf6+ Rxf6
27. Rxf6 Kxf6 28. Re1 Rd8 29. Qf3+ Kg7 30. Rxe5
{
butcher won only one pawn , but his pieces are much more actives than blac's ones.
And the two passed pawns in d4-c5 are really powerfull
}
30... Qh4 31. Re4 Qg5 32. Rf4 Qe7 33. h3 Qe6 34. c6 f5 35. b3 b4
{
i don't understand this move , now the a5 pawn is backwarded!
}
36. g3 Rd6 37. Kh2 Kf6
{
this move threats 38...g5 winning the rook. If 37....Rxc6?? 38.d5
}
38. g4 Qc8 39. d5 Qd8 40. Rc4 hxg4 41. hxg4 Qe8 42. gxf5 gxf5 43. c7 Qc8
44. Qg3 Ra6 45. Rh4 Qf8 46. c8=Q
{
black resigns
}
1-0
