A question regarding SCID.....

Hi,
I am willing to use this excellent program to detect and delete twin games which have exactley the same moves....when opening the menu windows/maintenance window,under the database operations....the "delete twin games" is not active because SCID says that this database is read-only,it cannot be altered!The PGN file is not marked as a read-only....so what's the problem here?

Hi Wael,
You must create a new empty file, import the games by yours pgn file, and now the new file can be modified!

First some players have more than one spelling of their name in the first 4 letters, and therefore all their twin games might not be eliminated by Scid. Hi Norm,
use this line to delete automatically the dupes
C:\pgn-extract -ddupes.pgn -ounique.pgn file.pgn
