flex.exe version question

In the makefile.gcc of some of the more recent Winboard source files a comment has been added regarding the flex.exe version that reads.

# we need version 2.5.4 or later, cygwin's is 2.5.35

On the below flex.exe page, whether official page I don't know, it looks to read that version 2.5.35 is the latest version of the flex.exe.

My Cygwin has flex 2.5.4, and I recall I had specifically to install that, as the felx with which Cygwin dd orignally install dis not work at all for WinBoard. In principle we should have a parser.c included in the release tar ball, to avoid flex problems.
