Hello together,
exists anywhere compiled versions for Linux builds like Ubuntu, Debian, KDE, OpenSUSE.....? I would like to add these websites (including their URLs) to the ComputerChess-Wikipedia (CC-Wiki)- especially for the "GUI Protocol List". I found on several Linux websites only downloads of the tar.gz code.
Best wishes,
Norbert

Just use Synnaptic, Software Center or however the software library is called in your distribution. However, the result in Ubuntu is not satisfying. The executable complains about missing
MICROSOFT fonts and quits.

Doesn't sound possible. Xboard can only use X-fonts. You don't by any chance mean that old "xboard: no fonts match pattern -*-helvetica-bold-r-normal--*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*" red herring, do you?
To Norbert:
I know that Arun makes binary packages for several distributions each time we do a developer release. They seem to be at
http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... d:/xboard/ . At east, that is where the linkfor the development versionin the download section of the
XBoard home page brings me. I am not sure if that is what you mean by 'current version', though.
