Undo

Postby Dan-the-K » 29 Apr 2005, 23:48

I'm having trouble with undo when playing a game in Winboard. :(

I might see that a move I made caused trouble. I back to the move in question, with "<". Winboard doesn't permit me to enter a new move, saying something like "the display doesn't match the moves."

What I want to do might be something like entering a variation.

I can do this by exiting from Winboard and editing the *.pgn file, but isn't there a way to do this within winiboard? :?

TIA,

Dan

Hi, Dan-the-K,

try 'Retract move' instead of '<', this should work in most cases.

'<' and '>' are walking through the unchanged game, they display the corresponding positions on the board. 'Retract move' changes the game by really taking back (and deleting) the user's last move (and probably also the engine's answer if already happened).
