Dann Corbit's large Fruit book is deep!

Postby Greg Simpson » 29 Jul 2005, 07:40

I just set up the Toga II 1.0 beta2 engine on my computer, and to make sure everything was working I set up a quick four game tournament against Fruit 2.1. While watching one of the games start I saw the first 54 moves played from book! I repeated the tournament and saw another game start with over forty book moves.

I had set up Polyglot to use the Dann's Fruit book (1 544 096 bytes) for both sides, and it seem some of the opening lines go quite deep. I'm switching to the Fruit.bin that comes with Polyglot to leave more of the games for the engines to play.
