Aw shucks, thanks Olivier. I think you'll find that Frittle is fairly weak, it certainly won't make its way out of the promo division.

Hello, I am the author of Frittle. Yes I know it is extremely weak in its primitive version... That's probably because I started from scratch barely more than a week ago... And it has no idea of endgames or time control... I'm trying to improve it... Having some problem with memory management of hashtables... Java is not the easiest to optimize for performance... I should have a decently better version in a few days...

PS: How did you find the project site? I just uploaded it and posted the link in one game dev forum and next morning I see this thread :shock:

Does anybody know how I can find a platform to rate my engine (once I improve it a bit of course)? I know its weak but I don't know just how weak.

Besides, I don't want to check improvements by pitting my own engine against an older version of itself. Sure, this will show me the relative change but if there is an obvious flaw that I've overlooked in both I would not realise it. The only engines I have at home are the likes of GNUChess and Crafty which end up terrorizing all versions of my engine so I really don't have a relative idea.

Hi Rohan, looking forward to your new version. I found your program by searching sourceforge.net; I got lucky and did my search just shortly after you had uploaded it.

Frittle 0.2 Released

Updated to Frittle 0.2 - Major rewrite of the code... Improved nps by almost 10-fold and optimized hashtables to 1/4th the memory requirement... Also added support for time controls and pondering.

@Olivier: The next Chesswar is around October, right? I think I can improve Frittle enough to be decently competitive by then :)
