Postby mainsworthy2 » 14 May 2009, 14:40

SonOfMainworthy02 Its just as bad as dad, but plays a little bit better, seems to be more aressive in play and a little bit more defensive setups. I didnt realise how much a little fiddleing can change an engine its available here
http://www.geocities.com/markjamestop/m ... dson01.zip
but remember only a low hourly download limit so if you miss it check next hour its realy now 02 version, but didnt want to change links

hope its in next chess war oliver?

also what winboard GUI does everyone use for tournements as Winboard 4-2-7b or 4-3-15 ?

Ive been offline for a while, been sailing alot took me over as my main hobby for a while, but Always when Im at a loose end chess is always there to entertain

Hello Mark, nice to see you back with a new engine !

Next Promo will start in November, and both father and son will play :)

Here I am using Winboard_F, don't know about other TDs.

SonOfMainsworthy is now updated to 04.

Mainsworthy and sonofmainsworthy are now always at Leo Dijksman Site, who kindly is hosting them.

I'm confused about the version numbering.
SonOfMainsworthy engine prints out the version number as "2.9.6",
also the name of the program in your zip file is:
"SonOfMainsworthy2.9.6 WinBoard Arena Chess Engine.exe"

You say "SonOfMainsworthy is now updated to 04." :?:
What is "04"?

It beats ACE no books 9 out of 10 and 10th is a draw, chad's chess just pips it so its getting better :)

Do you consider this a new engine or just a new version of Mainsworthy?

Hi Guenther, Ive reused the old engine, and redesigned some of the code and added another ply, its a very different engine I would say because criticle code to mainsworthy has changed, and plays nothing like mainsworthy.

I have sorted moves , captures are evaluated first, and added a ply, also redited the eval function! Im also experimenting with different weights and measures for the eval. and have expanded a couple of functions hope you will enjoy when Ive the finished engine , so you tell me is it a different engine? I didnt wat to lose the onld mainsworthy as it was a stable engine, so Son was born

Im nearly ready for another update, so keep checking
