Need help on KnightCap under Arena

Postby Vladimir Medvedev » 25 Sep 2009, 10:21

I've downloaded KnightCap 37 build JA to test it in my open-source engines pool. But it works incorrectly under Arena 2.0 / Windows XP: the program runs, I see a lot of output PVs in Arena's pane, but then Arena reports about "illegal move", and the game is terminated. Another strange thing is that KnightCap starts thinking long before the tournament game is set up. And the most strange for me -- this bug is not stable, sometimes Arena accepts KnightCap's moves and the game can be completed!

Could anybody please help, how to set up KnightCap under Arena? What king of protocol and command line options do you specify? (BTW, what is the difference between "Winboard" and "Winboard Old"?)

Hi,
First of all I want to confirm that the bug is not persistant....yes,sometimes Arena 1.1 accepts KnighCap's move, sometimes not...
As for the command line, here you are:

-n -X

BTW,I am using KnightCap's .exe with the evaluation tunning....
