I don't think it will be to much of a problem. Your assumptions is exactly how I use it. And it makes sense for thoes who prefer the Xiangqi and Shogi dedicated builds.

For some reason UCCI2WB doesn't like that optional directory part so I just got it working with

/uxiAdapter="UCCI2WB -noini %fcp"

and

"engineNick" fcp="dir/engine.exe" /fUCCI

Oh, I had not tried it yet. I might be confusing UCI2WB with UCCI2WB, it is already quite some time ago I implemented this. Even when UCCI2WB accepts only a single 'unified' argment, you could set

/uxiAdapter="UCCI2WB -noini %fd\%fcp"

or

/uxiAdapter='UCCI2WB -noini "%fd\%fcp"'

to account for spaces.
