Repeat games of a tournament

Postby Pedro Castro » 31 Jul 2012, 12:05

I played a tournament with Winboard and PSWBTM manager. Now I have a pgn file with games of tournament.

Some of the games were never played or played with problems and I would like to repeat them.

How I can do a simple way to replace the games in pgn file without play one to one?

I tried to delete the games into pgn file directly, but PSWBTM not play again the games.

Then the results of the games should be somewhere else. In PSWBTM there is the games.pswbtm file but the content is encoded.

Thanks.
Best wishes,

I know only little of PSWBTM, but I don't think it can do that.

With WinBoard's built-in tournament function it would in theory be possible, but it still is not easy. In that case you woud have to replace the result characters of the games you want to replay(+, - or =) by a space, in the -result string inside the tourney file. But you would have to count out the character position in that string (using the Number tag of the game in the PGN file).

Perhaps I should make a button 'erase game' in the Tournament Options dialog, together with a field where you could write a number of the game to be erased.

I think this option is very good to any manager.

I have not tried the manager included in winboard, one reason is that I have configured engines into the file winboard.ini and I see in the list for tournaments engines defined for example as "polyglot alfil.ini" instead of name associated with the option "/ name" --> "Alfil v.12MT (2 CPU)".
