I was no able to download the Perfomance. bin and Varied.bin books because appear a SkyNet commercial window instead of the downloadble files.

I have sometimes quite a few problems with my ISP for ChessBazaar.
But I have no problem for downloading these files toward my home.
Please do retry.

These files are the ones that I cooked for Fruit 2.2 public release.

I intend to offer significantly better opening book(s) for GambitFruit 1.04b very soon (within a few weeks).?

They will be available for free.

I tried Perfomance.bin and/or Varied.bin books with GambitFruit engine at Arena, but I have the feeling GambitFruit did not read/play the openings moves of those files. Maybe I have to rename the .bin files, but I do not know which is the adequate name.

you?re right, I?ve just tried it and GambitFruit Beta4 does really not use any book at all!
I tested all possible combinations of renaming the books to ?book_small.bin? (which is its default value in GambitFruit), and also changing the name in the option menu (?BookName?), but without any success - it simply isn?t able to use any book. So this is definitely a bug!

Correction:
I?ve just found out, that everything is ok with GambitFruit using the Fruit book - it?s simply a misbehaviour of Arena!
The following procedure is working:
Start GambitFruit, in its options menu set the name for the wanted book and confirm with ?Ok?. Then close the engine and restart it again - and from now on the book will work - at least it worked here the last time ...

Of course I meant starting it under Arena, because you wrote, that you have troubles with GambitFruit under Arena!

And with ?Options? I meant the UCI-options of the engine (i.e. of GambitFruit), which can be set in the engine?s configuration menu/window!
(Ok, ?Options? might be not the correct name under Arena, but I usually don?t run Arena in English ...)
So you?ll get this configuration window (or my ?options menu? ) either with <Ctrl-1>, or with right-clicking into the analysis window and selecting the first menu entry (?Configure ...?). Now you get a quite large number of UCI options, where you?ll see ?BookFile? at the 6th place - here you can enter the wanted filename of the book.
