Hi all,
The Glaurung binary download for Mac OS X now contains an executable for the new Intel Macs. Glaurung searches around 360 kN/s from the opening position on an iMac Core Duo 2 GHz, which is a considerable improvement over the 230 kN/s it gets on my old iMac G5 1.8 GHz. I get a similar (in fact slightly higher) speedup with Fruit 2.2.1. As a curiosity, I can mention that the 32-bit PowerPC binary runs at 140 kN/s on the Core Duo (which I think is very impressive, considering that hardware emulation is needed).
Now I just need to find a good way to utilise the second core of the Core Duo, and I will reach 700 kN/s and finally have a decently fast and strong chess engine.
