Scorpio question

Postby Tord Romstad » 20 Feb 2006, 23:41

Hi all,

I am playing a Silver match against Scorpio 1.6 right now. It's a fine program, but there is one little thing which annoys me: It seems that it never resigns.

Is there any way to enable resignination in Scorpio without changing the source code?

Hi Tord
i disabled it because scorpio's search is very unstable. In some endings(<=5 pieces) it can say -200 , -800 , -200, -800 at consecuative iterations, in which case it resigns. This is fixed now, I will probably release a 1.7 version which has a resign option today.

This is one of the reasons it is a good idea to resign only when you get a resign score for several consecutive moves.

Excellent - this is great news! I look forward to testing your new version.
:D
