New version of Djinn 0.920 (Windows 32 & Linux 32/64)

.
I also posted this at CCC, but here goes... :wink:

********************************************

Evening Everyone,

It's been awhile since I released a new version of Djinn into the wild, so in the spirit of Mark Uniacke and his 40 elo improvement bar (which I believe this version meets), version 0.920 is available at the following link:

http://webpages.charter.net/tlikens/

To see only the changes since 0.884b:

Essentially, I fixed a number of bugs--some fairly major, some minor. I also enhanced the search, so that it is much more selective now. And of course, the eval was tweaked as well--plus I believe it's a bit faster. The 64-bit Linux version is roughly 40% faster than either the 32-bit Windows or 32-bit Linux executables. So if you're running Linux 64, you should use that version. The documentation is now included in *all* downloads.

As always, if you have problems with either the program, documentation or downloads, please don't hesitate to let me know. Otherwise enjoy.

regards,

Hi Tom,

My settings in the rc file are as follows:

hash=128 MB
pawn-hash=8 MB
tb-cache=4 MB

That is 140 MB altogether. Still, task manager tells me Djinn is using more than 200 MB. I use the Windows 32-bit version.

Hello G?bor,

I'll check into this. Offhand I'm not sure what is taking up the extra space. In addition, to the tables you listed the program also uses an evaluation hash table, which might be the culprit (although 60M sounds very large). Regardless, it would be best if it were programmable too.
