A bug in RomiChess Proto 3i ?

Postby Silvian Rucsandescu » 08 Oct 2006, 13:14

Good day Gentlemen !
From yesterday I test extensively RomiChess Proto 3i ( both 32 & 64 bit versions) on three computers (Athlon 64 3800+):
-under Fritz 9 GUI-levels with time increment;
-under Shredder 10 UCI-GUI-games with fixed time per move;
-under ChessPartner 5.4-GUI-with fixed time for the whole game.
Playing on ChessPartner 5.4 GUI a bug seems to occur this engine regarding the time management.The symptoms:
-sometimes the engine declined to make the first move-even with "computer move" command;
-sometimes the engine stops to play after 2-6 moves;
-sometimes the engine forfeits on time(playing)-late on the game;
-sometimes the engine play without any problem all the game(engine vs.engine-on ERT- or human vs.engine).
This very interesting engine hasn't a config.ini file.What can I do ?
Any help will be much appreciated !
All the best,
Silvian :shock:
Nice to be on Winboard Forum !

Romichess doesnt have those kind of bugs as far as I know because I have played with almost every single version. It is a winboard engine so it is better to install it under winboard or arena as the chesspartner dont support the protcol very well, the old ones didnt. Michael told me that the future versions of Romi will come with a configuration file but as of last weeks beta, he hasnt integrated a config file. From your post it seems that the engine works fine under Fritz and Shredder 10, so be happy. :mrgreen:

Hi Silvian,

I am glad that yet another person is interested in testing RomiChess! I do not own Chess Partner or the other GUI's that you have mentioned and can not afford to purchase them, so there is nothing that I would know to do. Romi's source comes with the executable, maybe a programmer that also has Chess Partner can do something. All of Romi's code is going to be undergoing major changes over the next few months, so all be warned, that there could be many problems as I tend to break things as I make changes!
