What error messages do you get? Both should run IMO.

Install Linux on it ;-)! Xboard and Crafty like that OS :-)!

hi volker,
apparently the download of crafty package from crafty cito page is the culprit.
i downloaded wb from tim manns site and crafty17.4n w/books from ridderkirk.
they run fine.

Hello Mike,

Isn't Winboard wonderful?

I know some guis that would knock out your entire system, forget about loading an engine or two!

Incidentally, my system here is ancient and Winboard, WBTM (Pradu's terrific TM) and the associated Winboard and UCI engines run just fine.

Later.

hi volker,
i'm really surprised how good it works.
crafty gets about 6-8 plys average in a 5 minut game.
had it running on fics as a guest.
the newest winamp does'nt work but version 5.0
works good.
i have about 500 mb free disk space.
tomorrow i'm going to clean out every thing not needed.
also came with 2 modem cards,10 mb ethernet, and a sound card.

having fun with some old stuff regards

You would be correct, the compiles on my site will not work with 95/98 due to the method used to compile the executables. The compiles are all about speed and including the compatibility slowed things down.
