PreChess : one more that needs some fixing

Postby Olivier Deville » 13 Jul 2007, 06:33

Hi all :)

it is known that PreChess won't play as second engine under Winboard.

Maybe one of the readers can try to fix it ? :)

Hi Olivier,

Maybe one of the readers can try to fix it ? Smile

It's written in Ada 95. That's cuts down the chances of a fix by
99.9% :)

Personally, I can just about compile windows exes written in
Ada 95, but that's about it.

I don't think it's gonna happen with this one unless the author
updates it. :(

regards,
Jim.

It also doesn't help much that all the comments are in Portugese...

I guess there would be no easy fix anyway: the failure mode is that it resorts to playing with the white pieces on the second move for black, after having done one move with black.

This must be an error rather deep in the engine.

Too bad, it seemed like an opponent NEG could beat... :(
