Hi Carlos,

No trick. Previous books can't be used. I read somewhere it has to do with the FRC capability of the engine.

Hi

I think the opening books should still work, unless I somehow broke it.
I didnt change the probe code or the zobrist keys, so not sure what it could be.

The engine does a verification search on the book move now though, to try and avoid huge blunders from those lousy pgn bases the books are made from. This can cause the engine to drop out of book and start thinking for itself rather early on.

You can try and adjust the verification values in the frenzee.ini file, they might be too conservative, try the following:

- book_minwhite = -140
- book_minblack = -160

With the values above it should have no problem playing even pawn dropping gambits.

However, having seen some of the games of feb08 version, i'm starting to think something may indeed be broken... Quite often it just gives a pawn or two in the opening for what seems to me to be very little initiative.

The Feb08 version is basicly an evaluation tuning of the Dec08 version, but the changes to the eval is significant in a way that could easily be counter-productive.
It definitely did better in the tests it went through, but seeing it play it just seems hard to believe it is stronger. Perhaps I need a new way of testing :)

Shine On,
-S

Thanks Sune!
Ive replayed in a new topic by error.
Let me explain: IMO the structure book must be as simple as possible..and the responsability about the pgn quality are by the book-maker..giving values to "improve" the search book are a mix that can be a disaster when tuned books are used

The version that I have is definitely using the book without any changes. I do not have enough games to post the results just yet. You are crawling to the top, slowly but surely.
What more can I say?
