Question - how to delete comments in pgn-files in database ?

Postby hirdelgird » 25 Feb 2005, 15:25

Hello you all

at my webside there is pgn-download, the files includes mainvariation, depth, time aso ... this all makes the pgn much bigger than without it.

Now I tried removing comments aso for the older files to get a smaller file for download, but get no real sucess...

with chessbase i can transform from pgn in cbh, than remove all comments.
But i can not get it back from cbh to pgn.

Is there any tool which makes it comfortable, cause of the many many games its not posible to do this by hand ?

Thanks for your help.

IIRC it works if you create a new PGN DB and copy the un-commented games inside.

PGN-Extract (link see at the bottom of the pages) does that.

pgn-extract -C -llog.txt -N -s -ddupes.pgn -aout.pgn -7 in.pgn

will make a pretty clean PGN.
