Quote from message sent to Yahoo group > Chess engines :

Hi all,
Here is Chess GUI which can be used for WB and UCI
engines. This software can also be used to play engine
in two different machines and it has many more
features. I hope this software will be useful to chess
engine developers and users.

Please see

more details about NetChess software.

Thanks and regards,

Hello Jim:
I do not know which is your experience with NetChess 1.6. Mine is bad :( .
Is a very sensible program. If you commit any procedure mistake appear inmediately a popup saying something like this: "unavailable resource" or "resource not available" or " a required resource was unavailable" and the program "hangs". I do not know what kind of resource require.
Also pgn games are played until move 14th or less and after that appear the mentioned popup.
If you load a winboard chess engine as a default black side engine and then try to call the default engine appear a popup saying "wrong default engine setting".
When a pgn game is loaded the 4 black arrows (??) at the toolbar do not work in my PC.
Etc,etc.
Please your comments,
Cheers,
Pablo

Hi Pablo,
I've only has a quick look at it and I agree with your comments. I found the interface rather boring, although it's only a first release and maybe the author will continue to develop it into something better. Well done to him for all his efforts anyway, I couldn't write a gui.

Regards
Jim.

Hi Jim and Pablo,

Thanks for posting the NetChess new GUI message in this forum.

About the comments from Pablo, I suppose you are not using Win 95 or 98.

Minimum requirement for NetChess is Windows NT, 2000 or XP and 256 or above RAM.

Definitely I will improve features and functions in NetChess to meet user's expectations.

Thanks
RAOAVM

Nice to hear from you RaoAvm,

I think Netchess is great for a first public release and being a bit
of an amateur coder myself, I can appreciated the time and effort involved in developing it. Well done and I hope you will continue to
develop it further.

All the best,
Jim
