All this time, i didn't know that there is a chess variant of
my own country!!!
i am too ashamed to ask if any body knows the rules of this chess variant so that i can make DanChess support this variation. And probably develope a GUI.
The only information i can find is some rought explanation by
Dr. Richard Pankhrust (famous researcher in Ethiopia).

thanks in advance
daniel

Hi Daniel,

The best place to start looking for information about chess variants is http://www.chessvariants.com. The site contains a page about Ethiopian chess, but unfortunately there is very little information. There is a link to another site with some more information, but I cannot find any complete description of the rules anywhere.

Hi Tord
thanks for the link.
i didn't know there were lots of chess variants!
the ethiopian variant is senterej which in amharic mean table.
many variants are played on a weird table, using weird pieces some times even using cards.
atleast our variant has the same kind of pieces and board dimension as the standard chess.
best
daniel
