new ChestUCI-version 4.2

Postby F.Huber » 22 Jun 2005, 16:26

Hello ChestUCI-friends,

a new version 4.2 of ChestUCI is available - this time no great innovations,
but only a few changes and improvements here and there.

- test for illegal positions lowered: only 1 king and maximum 16 pieces per
side is still checked
- new option ?ShowAnalysis? automatically displays the special-parameters
C/K/P/X for every current position
- selecting of and playing through other solution variants has been optimized:
access to the solution file is now shown and can also be aborted
- a few more error messages: if the calculation of variants is aborted too early,
or the given search-depth is to small (at ?RetroAnalysis?)
- new ?EPDUtil?-version: recognizes mate-infos in PGN-files and automatically
removes doublets
- the mate-database now contains 2300 problems (with parameters)

Best regards,
Franz.

Hello Franz,

Your statement contain a number of terrible inaccuracies. Please do not repeat them on this Forum.

(1) We were told that the previous edition of Chest UCI was the final one. Apparently you forgot....

(2) No great innovations needs explaining (in fact it is just wrong and you should apologise immediately for it) especially in view of the fact that the innovations above-mentioned seem to make life much easier for the user. In particular, the work you have been doing with EPD Util is fantastic. Anyone who does work with epd files shoud be using this tool. Of course if its author insists on being inaccurate then no-one will know of it!

(3) The enhancing and increasing of the epd database is in itself worth the download....as is EPD util. By now you would have gathered that I like this tool....

Thanks for Chest, a fantastic piece of free (!!!) software.

Oh, we are not Chest UCI friends over here. We are Chest UCI fans. There is a difference. Do not ever forget it!

:D

A fan......

Later.

Ok Roger,

1000 apologies for all my crimes!

I?ll seriously try to improve myself and don?t let all those ?terrible inaccuracies? and wrong promises happen again in the future - at least I?ll try my best!

Regards to all fans (not friends!) of ChestUCI, :D
Franz.
