Postby Roy Harper » 10 Sep 2005, 23:27

BeoWulf says it loads the book and the personality file but it doesn't say it has seen the tablebase directory is this the norm or have i got to do more than enter TBLOC C:\TB where my tablebases are located?

If this is the latest "fix" (09-09) you are right, he says also it is v2.3?
The update/fix from 07-09 said it was v2.4 and did find the egtbs but have probably another problem?

Best wishes,
Leo.

You should be able to set the tablebase location in three ways.

1. On the command line,
TBLOC=<egtb_path>
e.g. :

BEOWULF.EXE TBLOC=E:\PROGRAMME\WINBOARD\NALIMOV

2. From the environment by setting EGTBPATH:

SET EGTBPATH=e:\programme\winboard\nalimov
beowulf.exe

3. In the Beowulf.cfg file:

E:\programme\winboard\beowulf>type beowulf.cfg
# Beowulf Configuration File
# Lines starting with a hash '#' are ignored
# Actually, it ignores any lines it doesn't recognise as commands
# Please edit the following to your requirements
# The format of each line is important - do not change it!
# (However, the order of the lines is irrelevant. You can
# include/delete/reorder lines as desired.)
# Default Hash table size (2^n k) e.g. size 14 = 16 Mb
# 15 = 32Mb, 16 = 64Mb, 17 = 128Mb, 18 = 256Mb etc....
HASH 18
# Skill levels (1 to 10)
# 1 is very weak, 10 is maximum
WSKILL 10
BSKILL 10
# Tablebase Directory Location
TBLOC e:\programme\winboard\nalimov
# Opening Book Location
OPBOOK E:\programme\winboard\beowulf\extras\beobook.dat
# Personality File Location
PERSON E:\programme\winboard\beowulf\extras\default.per
# Should Beowulf resign in a losing position? (Either 'ON' or 'OFF')
RESIGN ON

Hello Dann,

I have tried and I don't know if it is ok or not

with the Beowulf from september 7th, 2005 (303104 bytes)

Welcome to Beowulf Version 2.4!

Checking for Tablebase Files
Including 5-man Endgame Table Bases

With the beowulf from september 9th, 2005 (229376 bytes)

Welcome to Beowulf Version 2.3!

Nothing about Checking for Tablebases Files

I have tried with your options 1 and 3.

Thanks for all.

Best wishes
