Scan a chess diagram (jpg, gif, bmp).
Use Chess Scan intelligent as 'OCR' tool.
Save the position as a computer readable file (FEN, EPD, PGN, BRT, TeX, ...)!

It's simple and free.

I have to say that I don't like your posting style very much.

- Who are you to that you think that you are in the position to give commands here? (Almost your whole post is a sample of commands.)

- What is that tool good for? Especially for a Winboard user?

Ok, sorry about this style, it was just meant as a short manual (instructions) if you want to use this program.
Of course I don't want to give commands to anybody. I guess it was possible to misunderstand this.

According to the forum description I thought also other chess related topics could be posted here, but if it's not suitable please feel free to delete the topic.

Neat application! It seems to have much trouble with colored images though.

Thanks a lot for your interest in this little tool.

@Mihail: Sorry to hear that you cannot access the page. I sent you a message so that you could contact me at my email address.
Then I can send you the file as an attachment.

@Pradu: Yes, you are right. I implemented the piece recognition for bitonal images. Later I added a simple function to convert colored images to bitonal.
Depending on the colors of the pieces (let's say blue and a dark red for example) this could lead to conversion of the pieces of both Black and White to the color black (or white in other cases). Depending on the color of the squares of the chess board this can even lead to empty black/white squares during the conversion.

Hi all, this app can be pretty useful for you.

Chessfimee allows you to scan chessboards using OCR(optical character recognition) technology. You can use your phone camera to take a photo of a chess diagram from books, papers, even LCD screens(PDFs, other sources) or you can use photos from your phone gallery then scan and analyse the position(using stockfish chess engine). Also you can share the chess position (FEN) with other chess applications.

An iOS version will be coming soon. Good luck!
