Turn off auto-play of moves in PGN game file.

I would like to turn off the option where Winboard automatically plays through the game moves in a PGN game file. For example, I have many tactical puzzles in pgn format and since they contain the solution moves, if I double click on any of them, Winboard will start moving the pieces right away, making it painfully annoying not to gaze at the solution while trying to hit the pause button on the navigation toolbar.

I have Googled this problem and tinkered with all the menu options (I have Winboard 4.2.7), but I just don't see anywhere how I can turn off the auto-play moves option.... please please help !!

I know that other programs do not do this when loading a pgn file (I tried Chessmaster 10 and although it does display the moves in a separate window, it does not actually move the pieces on the board), so I must be missing something. However I love Winboard's GUI a lot more than Chessmaster, and would like to continue to study tactical problems with it.

Thanks,
-Cezar

In the menu go to "Options > Load Game" and see if the box is checked.

As Charles indicated, turn off automatic stepping and you will be fine.

My real reason for responding! This gives me a warm fuzzy.

All the best.

Later.

Thanks for the help everyone, never thought Options->Load Game would be different from File->Load Game

Yeah, I didn't like Chessmaster at all, so I think I'll be using Fritz+Winboard for a long long time time to come :)
