RDChess site moves to new location

Postby Rudolf Posch » 03 Feb 2009, 19:31

Dear chess friends,
Microsoft MSN Group Service will be closed by 21th, Febr. 2009.
This means that my RDChess site http://groups.msn.com/RudolfPosch/freew ... chess.msnw is no longer available after that date.

I have moved all the old old stuff (Download links, User Manual, Technical Descriptions, ...) to http://www.rdchess.com

There is still no newer version for RDChess as V3.23 available. :(
Please use in the rare case that you need a copy of RDChess the above link or use the direct download link http://members.aon.at/rposch/RDChessV323.zip

Greetings Rudolf

I am very sorry, there is little chance for a newer version soon. As I mentioned quite often before, RDChess has -and had always- a terrible bug, playing blunder moves up and then. Despite much effort I hav'nt found the error and stopped work on RDChess (Object Pascal/86-Assembler/ Delphi).
I have been working on a new chess engine in C++ with a GUI in C#/.NET Framework, but this work is sleeping at the moment too.
Is it a) a lack of motivation, b) my old age ( I am retired) or c) other interests ?
I do not know myself ...

Hi Matthias,
The current RDChess version relies heavily and is strongly interleaved with the Delphi Visual Component Library and Environment. It makes not sense and is neary impossible to extract the WB driven chess engine.

I have started a C++ Dynamic Link Library (.dll) for a new chess engine (with WB/ UCI -Interface) called "RDChess Edition Rax" with a C# .NET GUI for testing and viewing.

As a code template body for the .dll I have been using the some time ago free downloadable source code of Fruit 2.1.
"So RDChess Rax will play about as strong as Fruit 2.1. I still have to work to alter some parameters in order to escape Copyright infringements ...
RDchess Rax must play so differently from Fruit 2.1 in tournaments that nobody can proof the (stolen) origin. "

Naturally the sentence before in quotas is a choke! But I have really studied Fruit 2.1 and wonder were the code is which makes it so much stronger then my old RDChess? It looks on a first glance like the standard 08/15 chess engine.
One reason is it perform much more nodes/sec than RDChess. But that is not the whole story.
At the moment RDChess Rax development is sleeping (see also my reply to Dr. Wael Deeb)

I hope you have designed your new engine such that you can easily through out the GUI later.
I have never understood why my BigLion is weaker than strongest opensource either.
I cannot find the reason in source code. It seems to be a spiritual issue  .

Matthias.
