The end of ChessWar

Dear friends,

This is to confirm the rumours that ChessWar is going to an end.

Of course, I am annoyed by all the clone/derivative stories, but the main reason is I now want to spend my time with other things.

I am still interested in amateur chess engines, and I really liked the social event of broadcasting games. So possibly there will be a new edition of OpenWar at the end of the year. We'll see.

Of course I'll keep the Winboard Forum alive.

Olivier,
Thank you for the many hours of fun and excitement, while watching my program play and chatting with other programmers.
The event will be missed.
Good luck with whatever you are going to do now.

Looking forward to a next OpenWar edition,

Maarten Claessens

Sad news Olivier, but understandable.

Many hours spended watching the games and chating with programmers.
Thanks for awnsering many questions with great iddeas and solutions.

Hope you enjoy other things that you want to do.

Allways waiting for the next tournament, cause as the proverb says
"the criminal allways return to the local of the crime".

I will bribe you with "cozido a portuguesa" ou "feijoada" with "vinho tinto do Dão".

Regards from your portuguese friend,
Fernando

Good luck to whatever you'll do, Oli.
Same for you Leo.
Both of you going will leave a big hole in CC world.

You're right about that Fonzy! :(
Both will be back I'm sure, but in the meantime I hope that life treats them well.
