HoiChess goes Xiangqi

Postby Holger Ruckdeschel » 26 Jul 2006, 20:39

Hi people!

I've created an experimental version of my chess engine HoiChess
that plays Xiangqi (aka Chinese Chess, Elephant Chess).
It can be downloaded from http://www.hoicher.de/hoichess.

Since xboard/winboard do not support this game (completely
different board), it can only be played using the command line
interface, which is quite comfortable though.
Currently, there exist only very few Xiangqi engines, e.g.
http://xiangqi-engine.sourceforge.net/. There is
also an experimental graphical interface called cxboard available
on the same site. However, development seems stalled since 2003.

Comments and suggestions welcome!

Best regards,
Holger
