Connection closed by ICS
Posted: 23 Nov 2015, 13:47About 10-12 years ago I was playing correspondence chess and used Winboard by itself as an analysis board. I didn't want to connect to a server or an engine. Using an engine was (obviously) cheating, so I just wanted the board capabilities alone. I'm looking to do something similar now and downloaded Winboard 4.8.
However when I start up Winboard, I can do something like paste in a PGN, but every time I do, in a minute or less I get a pop-up saying "Connection closed by ICS" and Winboard closes. Under the "Mode" submenu, the selection "ICS client" is checked and cannot be unchecked.
I assume that I'm doing something wrong, but what?
